Traditional Thai massage, known in Thailand as Nuad Boran, is often described as yoga for people who do not have time for yoga. You stay fully clothed in loose cotton garments and lie on a floor mattress while the therapist uses palms, thumbs, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to apply rhythmic compression along energy lines the Thai tradition calls sen, and then guides your body through a sequence of assisted stretches.
The effect is completely different from an oil massage. Rather than sedating the body, Thai massage opens it. Hip flexors that have shortened from years of sitting lengthen. Shoulders that have rolled forward over a keyboard open backwards. Spinal rotation, which most adults lose without noticing, is gently restored. Guests usually leave feeling taller, lighter and unusually mobile.
At Aveluna Wellness Spa our therapists are trained in the authentic northern-style sequence and adapt the depth and range of every stretch to your flexibility. Nothing is forced. If a position is not right for your body on that day, it is modified or replaced.
Regular sessions produce cumulative benefits. Here is what our guests in Nallagandla, Gachibowli and Tellapur report most often.
Assisted stretching lengthens the hamstrings, hip flexors, chest and shoulders far more effectively than stretching alone.
Compression along the legs and glutes releases the deep hip rotators that cause most desk-related back pain.
Opening the front of the body allows the shoulders to sit back naturally, reducing forward head posture.
Unlike oil massage, Thai massage tends to leave guests energised rather than sleepy, so it works beautifully as a morning or lunchtime session.
Gentle traction of the joints improves circulation of synovial fluid, which is especially useful for runners and gym-goers.
The therapist works with your exhale on each stretch, which naturally deepens breathing and calms the mind.

Good to know: arrive ten minutes early so you can shower, complete a short health form and start your session relaxed. Late arrivals may receive a shortened session so the next guest is not delayed.
Not at all. The therapist moves your body only as far as it comfortably goes and works within your natural range. Flexibility is the result of Thai massage, not a requirement for it.
You may feel a strong but satisfying stretch. Genuine pain is never part of the therapy — tell your therapist and the pressure or angle is changed immediately.
No. Traditional Thai massage is performed dry and fully clothed, which makes it a great option if you have to return to work afterwards.
Guests who are pregnant, have osteoporosis, a recent fracture, slipped disc, severe varicose veins or recent surgery should choose a gentler therapy. Always tell us about medical conditions at booking.
Most guests notice improved mobility immediately after the session. A mild pleasant soreness for a day, similar to after a good stretching class, is normal.
Same-day appointments are usually available. Call, WhatsApp or send us an enquiry and our front desk will help you choose the right therapy for your body and your schedule.
